Panel session at Best Practice: Corporate Apps @ The Barbican this p.m. #bpca13 #cloud #mobile #social #apps

Later today I'll be at the Barbican to join in a panel session (on behalf of Intellect) within the "Best Practice: Corporate Apps conference". I'll be part of a panel at 14:55 described on the agenda as follows:

The Industry Experts

In the corporate digital communications journey is there a right path, or merely a number of routes, all of which will help us reach the same endpoint?

What does the digital and communications community believe is the right path? This panel session hears the views of digital communications professionals. Hear from Justin Cooke, chairman of the British Interactive Media Association and the UK CEO of POSSIBLE, Danny Whatmough, the chairman of the PRCA Digital Group and associate director at Ketchum and David Terrar, chair of the Saas Intellect UK group and CEO of D2C.

My particular perspective will focus on the 3 major shifts that are happening simultaneously: cloud - the shift to cloud and web apps, mobile - the fact that we now carry the internet in our hands with smart-phones and tablets, social - with the explosion of social media and user generated content. We've never had 3 shifts like this happening together in the last 40 year of the information technology landscape. As a consequence, Apps have never been more accessible, more available, or more necessary to help your business. There is a huge spectrum to choose between, from the legacy software suppliers who have been slow to adapt to the new paradigm, to a myriad of new, innovative web apps and public cloud services. How do you pick and choose? Do we have a future of too many app stores? Where is all this heading? I'm looking forward to the discussion.
